Follow the Dragons
Once you've gone up the steps, turn right and look at the big board talking about the exhibition. It's the same as the one in the Levinsky Gallery, so it's tricky for Mirabelle to see the writing.
Luckily, there's an invigilator just to the left who can help her with questions - but they don't have any large print versions of information.
As you walk through the doors on your left into the gallery, have a look at the installation in the corner on your right. The contrast between the dark material and the pale floor is strong, so Mirabelle knows where the work begins and ends. It's a little difficult to make out some of the different colours of fabric.
Turn left. There's a really interesting installation here which makes a noise, so Mirabelle enjoys that. But it's very difficult to see the small pieces on the floor, so Mirabelle has to be very careful not to step on them or hit them with her cane.
The labels next to each work are much too small for Mirabelle to see, and the white label on the white background is difficult to spot. Ask someone to read them out to you as you go round.
Turn right and look at the photos on the wall to your right. Mirabelle loves the bright colours and contrasts in these photos and really enjoys looking at them.
Keep going forward. There's an installation of tall, sculptural pieces which contrast well with the pale floor. This helps Mirabelle see where they are so she doesn't walk into them or hit them with her cane.
Sit down and watch the film on the left. The soft bench means that Mirabelle doesn't hurt herself if she bumps into it. The image on the film is also clear and the white subtitles on a black background are easy to read.
Be careful not to trip over the wires from the headphones!
Turn round and head towards the film room. The plinth on the left is a little difficult for Mirabelle to see because it's white against a white background, but it's standing away from the wall so the shadow helps. Mirabelle can't see the small text in the zines, so you can ask someone to read them to you.
The film room is very dark and there are lots of little stools, which Mirabelle might trip over. At least the film is nice and clear, so Mirabelle enjoys watching that.
Leave the film room and turn left. The photos on the wall to your left have a lot of strong contrasts and Mirabelle enjoys looking at them. The text on some of them is a little hard to make out, so you can ask someone to read them to you or try getting up close.
Turn left at the end of the wall, then left again to go and look at the film. The bench in front of this film is hard and the white colour doesn't stand out very well from the pale floor, so Mirabelle has to be very careful not to bump into it and hurt herself.
Turn left and look at the paintings. The one on the left is quite pale, but Mirabelle likes the look of the textured elements when she gets up close.
Mirabelle enjoys the paintings on the left because she can get really close and feel like she's immersed in them. Not all the colours stand out very well to her.
