Follow the Dragons
The reception desk at the Box always has someone helpful who can tell you about access. Rocky also says they have the nicest accessible toilet in Plymouth - it's really clean with lots of space!
The lift is to the right of the reception desk. The guide on the wall can be a bit tricky to figure out, so ask for help if you need to. Remember to wait until there's enough room for Rocky and his chair.
The art exhibitions are usually on floor one - there's not enough room for Rocky to turn around in the lift, so walk out backwards. And don't forget to only get in the lift if there would be enough room for Rocky and his wheelchair.
Books are on display when you come out of the lift - like these ones from Abigail Reynolds' Elliptical Reading project. It's lucky you're allowed to pick them up so that Rocky can ask Herman to pass them down to him for a closer look. Turn right to continue.
Rocky has to look at some films from a distance, from behind the sofa. If people are sitting there, wait until it's free and come back later because that's the only way Rocky can see properly. Go through the door on your right and then turn left
It's really helpful when the doors to the gallery are kept open because they're very heavy and Rocky needs help from two people to open them if they're closed
The guides to the exhibitions are a bit difficult for Rocky to read from his chair, so sometimes he has to ask Herman to read things to him. Kneel down on the floor or sit on a chair so you can see what it's like for Rocky.
Rocky has to sit at the back of any film rooms so he's not in the way if there are other people in there
Lots of the artworks look quite different from Rocky's perspective - as you go round, have a look at everything from lower down and see how different it is
Sometimes Rocky has to ask people to move furniture in exhibitions so that he can move around easily.
Rocky and Herman have to be extra careful when there are installations and sculptures on the floor, so go a bit more slowly if there are - it's important to make sure there's room for Rocky to get through in his wheelchair too
Go back the way you came and down to the lower ground floor in the lift
